Overview
In order for facilitators to view student macOS device screens, screen recording permissions must be enabled on the learner device. Apple does not allow IT departments to enable this feature remotely, so it must be done on each device. It does not require an administrator password, so it is possible to have your learners enable this while they are using the device.
Instructions
- Open the System Preferences app. You can use Launchpad or Spotlight. In this example, we are using Launchpad.
- Open the "Security & Privacy" menu.
- Open the "Privacy" tab and scroll down on the left-hand column to "Screen Recording".
- You may see 1 or 2 entries related to Lanschool. Enable both of them by clicking the checkbox(es).
- After enabling the checkbox, you will be prompted to either "Quit & Reopen" or wait until later.
- If you only have 1 entry, click "Quit & Reopen". If you have 2 entries, click "Later" on the first entry, enable the second entry, and then click "Quit & Reopen"
- After enabling the checkbox, you will be prompted to either "Quit & Reopen" or wait until later.
- If you receive an error message about an error in Security & Privacy preferences, you can ignore it and click the "OK" button.
- The full details of the device screen should now be visible in the teacher console.
